I landed in Halifax last night for a week long vacation that will include driving the Cabot Trail. I had pre-paid for an economy rental but the rental company ran out of economy cars so they gave me a free upgrade to this...

Kinja'd!!!

I checked all of the tire pressures and will avoid cars and coffee at all costs.

I’m still nervous.

The good news is that the Mustang should be a LOT more fun on that road than any economy car...

Did you take barometric pressure changes into account? What about the Coriolis effect? Man there’s a lot of variables to consider driving a mustang.

That’s a hell of an upgrade. Only time I’ve ever been “upgraded” it was to a Minivan with about 25k of really hard miles, and it smelled pretty awful too.

Awesome! Welcome to Nova Scotia! I’m just 50 mins away from Halifax in Mahone Bay! The opposite direction to where you are going to the Cabot Trail though! :P

Enjoy your stay here, hopefully the weather plays nice - I’ve not been up to Cape Breton in a long time, but the drive is a beautiful one through the Trail.

If you do head down towards the South Shore, yell really loudly to say hi and I’ll probably hear you....Nova Scotia’s not a big place :P

Where all ya heading? Definitely visit the Citadel and the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax - both very cool! (If you’re into that sort of thing - especially visit the HMCS Sackville if you do go to the MMA, beautiful old warship!)

What about imperial or metric!?

We wouldn’t want another international incident.

A rental minivan is never, ever an upgrade. I couldn’t even bring myself to buy a used minivan. It’s like buying a used CDC laboratory.

Hah - as soon as he saw he got a Mustang GT, he should’ve turned right back around and opted for their best coverage.

Damn, the only upgrade I’ve been offered was from a Chrysler 200 to a Frontier. I kindly turned it down for my nearly 1300 mile drive. The 200 was better than expected at least.

It’s not paint, it’s light. If I’m not mistaken, it’s actually a factory option you can get on the new Mustang that projects the Mustang logo on to the ground next to your door instead of having a normal puddle light. Why anyone would actually get that, I haven’t the slightest. But it’s a thing, apparently.

I rented a manual Challenger Scat Pack from Budget once...and someone I know rented a different, newer manual Challenger Scat Pack from the same Budget a few weeks ago.

Using the left pad on the steering wheel scroll down to “Track Apps” and it’s the 4th option down IIRC.

Comes with the premium package. It’s the best, though mine need new lenses, they Pony’s are a bit faded.

Sadly I haven’t tried it yet myself. Sitting on my autocross tires at the moment and those are far too expensive to roast.

Coolness, I would suggest a meetup, but you are on vacation and I will likely be at work, hopefully you’ll post about your trip as you go....a Mustang on the Trail should be a good time! :P

I am biased, but I like to think Nova Scotia is a pretty nice place - hopefully you enjoy yourself here! Mind my asking where you got the idea to come up to the Trail?

Sorry for missing your reply. The trip was great...busy... but great. Now that I’m back at work I actually have time to check OPPO lol. We got lucky with the weather, it only rained one day out of nine and according to my lady friend who went to school out there that’s pretty uncommon. I’m so damn glad I got upgraded to the mustang. Some of the back roads we took out to Cape Breton were rough but the mustang’s bigger wheels and better quality suspension soaked up most of it. In a little econobox I would have been making appointments for spinal realignment by the end of the trip. The air conditioned seats were also a very welcome feature after doing a couple of hikes in warm weather. Most of all though... that V8... in sport + mode... with sport steering setting... shifting with paddles... fantastic for The Trail! It also allowed me to pass two, sometimes three cars in short bursts. In an econobox I would have been stuck behind slow moving tourists on the trail, but in the mustang I could just drop a gear (or two) and blast past them. South shore was nice too, we went to Peggy’s Cove, Lunenburg and Gaff Point. It’s definitely a nice place to live... and relatively cheap too... I took a look at some real estate listings in Halifax/Dartmouth after I got home ;) lol

Awesome! Glad the Mustang suited the trip and you enjoyed your time in my neck of the woods. I enjoy living here, it’s a nice place...cheap as long as you’re not trying to buy a large property right in the tourist hotspots!

I was keeping an eye out for your Mustang, but didn’t spot you anywhere! :P
